House of Louse

Let's recount the past several days:
Honey goes out of town for 10 days.
Isobel gets lice at school. We comb for 3 hours.
My mother decides she 'can't do her money any more' dumps it on me.
The day after Honey returns his brother comes to visit for a few days - general family chaos and mother(in-law) issues
We're still combing Isobel a week later. No one else in the house gets the bugs. Even so I spend 3 hours combing my hair to be sure.
Isobel get the puking flu.
Henry gets the puking flu.
Grown ups are waiting to get puking.
I thought my Ipod died today. Did a successful reboot.

Counting the days until Holiday break so we can just hang out in our jammies all day, playing with new toys.
Saturday, Carla(she , who has finished her first semester of grad school without crying publicly) & I are going to Threadbear and The Spinning Loft.

Spun some yarn that looks like my hair:

Note to self: make friends with ratios.

Egads, woman! Talk about the unfun. I hate vomiting more than just about anything, but it's lice that made me the short-haired girlie I am today!

When I was not too much older than Divine Miss I, I landed a swarming hive o' lice from the filthy neighbors (and ended up having to cut all my hair off when the horrid early 1980s technology failed to kill off the little buggers). Blech! My hair's never been that long since, sigh...

Lice seem to like some people more than others, sadly. So far we're unscathed despite epidemic proportions of lice at school. A friends daughter seems to get them every week. A tea tree heavy conditioner combed through damp hair and left for a while,at least twice a week, seems to help. Or so I've heard. Neem oil based treatments stink, but work really well. You can find those at health food/beauty places.
You could, with your pretty yarn, put it through the wheel [if you see what I mean] in reverse to take some of the twist out. Paula Simmons ''Spinning for Softness and Speed'' is the book you need. Just re-published.
Hope the puking flu misses you.
Be well.

So sitting in my car after a Calculus review session hiccupping sobs and wiping snot all over my face doesn't count as public? Whew, dodged that bullet.

Hoping for a no lice, no puke holiday break!!

Cars do not count as public.

However bursting into tears at the Postoffice because they won't let me use their tape, signals that I need a rest ; )

I burst into tears last week for no reason at all! So at least you've got me beat there, having a reason and all.

(Imagine the look of boy-puzzlement when that one happened. He was just plain freaked out).

When Tess had the stomach flu this spring, I wondered how those of you with more than one handled more than one kid with stomach flu at the same time. Egads! I've never done that much laundry (the same. damn. load.) in one day...

BTW, the Puking Fairy passed over the adults in the house that time. Hope the same happens to you.

yuck. yuck. yuck.

puking and lice. both things that even if you don't actually catch, you feel like you might have.

i hope you have a wonderful saturday. and wouldn't blame you a bit if you fail to return before late in the evening.
