When the going gets tough

the tough spin cashmere. This is Chasing Rainbows merino/cashmere - can't find the tag right now so I'm not sure on the colorway.

Bought from my favorite fiber crack dealer Morgaine at SOAR.

This afternoon I'm going to a meeting where a social worker will tell my mother she can't live alone anymore. She has to go to an assisted or group home situation. She will have to give up her dog and basically hope that she'll be getting better.

Once she's moved it will be a huge relief for me. She can't keep a home help worker - I've been shopping, managing her meds and money, doing her laundry, driving her every where & listening to her litany of woes. Mostly directed negatively at me.

The cashmere was a wonderful balm last night. It's a little thick/thinner than I really wanted. But I predrafted it the last night of SOAR after a *few* beers. So it has fantastic memories spun in.

It will be knit into some sort of neck snuggly for me. Stay tuned!

8 things - random

Dear moist Beth tagged me for 8 random things meme.
Sounds perfect for this rainy, rambling Friday.

1. I've been to all 48 contiguous US states, I was a mad roadtripper in college. I still love to drive.
2. I tend to obsess on Horoscopes, I'm a Gemini, some days I read 5 looking for one I like.
3. I love Ziploc bags. I have them in all sizes from the snacky tiniest to the huge - hold a fleece size. I know that they were in vented in 1968 and they can be recycled if your city recycles #4 plastic.
4. I am curious & painfully nosy. I was the 'why' kid, and I still am.
5. I love to do research. See #4.
6. I am shy and find it really difficult to small talk with people I don't know.
7. I love bones. I have bones and skulls real and fake. I love them for they fact that they make the most amazing architecture in our bodies. I marvel that and how our bodies move. I probably should have been an orthapod.
8. I want to learn to surf, on a board, before I'm 50.

Is it wrong?

Is it so wrong that I'm lusting after going to Rhinebeck next year, and I haven't even put away my stuff from SOAR?

Everyone had so much fun at Rhinebeck.

And no, I haven't spun everything I bought last year at Rhinebeck..............

Now I have to finish the samples.....................

SOAR

Now don't everybody shit at once, but I'm updating.
Not only that, but my SOAR photos are in Flickr.
That *THUD* was Amy dropping dead all the way over in Norway. Hi Amy!

Here are a couple of pictures that make me smile:

Amy and Maggie, who taught her to not only spin, but love spinning. Amy wore a handspun yarn wreath all week. Maggie taught me to spin too, years agoooooooooo.
It kills me how happy Amy is in this picture, she was that happy all week.

Carla did not want to take the Wet Finishing class because there were plungers involved. Some deep seated fear, or kink? You decide.
Here, she menaces me with the plunger.
I'm voting kink.
