I was kidnapped by Aliens and taken to

Pseudo- Bavaria!

Not only that, I was forced to

stay at a water-park hotel

look at people in Ye Olde Timey costumes

and go to the "the world's largest Christmas store"

I need a vacation from our 2 -day vacation.
Isobel dubbed it "the best time I've ever had in my life!"

I did manage to score some yarn and a taco Christmas ornament.
Anyone know who Ami-Knit is? Her colors are gorgeous.

Yes, I said taco.

The waterpark looked fun (as does the yarn and taco ornament) but the rest seems a tad scary. But I bet it's worse to actually work there.

Hope you get your vacation from your vacation.

ugh--I've been forced to go to Frankemuth way too many times by my sweet mother in law. It is one of her favorite places, so I go and try and glue a smile on for her benefit (and so that she will keep babysitting my kids for me). But yarn? I didn't know there was any yarn there! Please let me know where it is so that next time I am forced to go I can look forward to something!

And I love the taco. Our x-mas tree isn't themed--just a mish mash of stuff, but I love the idea of having a food-ornament theme...

Dd got married in Saginaw and our photographer was in Frankenmuth. We had to be there several times and the long drive was mitigated by an equally lengthy visit to Rapunzel's Gift Shop. Dee's really sweet and very knowledgeable (as well as a talented knitter.)

I was wondering about the Ami-Knits yarn myself. Isn't there a weblink on the tag? She's really increased her line since the first time I saw it last February. As a new-ish hand-spindler, I found it encouraging. Perhaps there's an indie handspun yarn business in my future?

Frankenmuth. I think I was the youngest person there last time I visited the photographer. Tourist buses everywhere. Oh so glad you survived!

Welcome back...and congratulations on all the new publications. Makes me feel so proud having another famous Michigander on my knitting Bloglines!

Blessings,
Susie

But... I hear they process wool there at a couple mills! I would go just for that.

They also have a pretty amazing sausage store. Yes, an entire store dedicated to the sale of ground seasoned pork stuffed in casings. With accordians on the wall for decoration. I kid you not.

I hate to admit it, but that actually looks like fun. But then, I'm a pretty kitschy girl. ;-)

Despite the overwhelming presence of ill-fitting liederhosen and accordion music pumping out from every corner, I admit to a secret pleasure in visiting Frankenmuth.

Thanks for bringing it all back -- and reminding me how much I want to get back to Rapunzel's to feel up some more of their lovely yarn.
