Remember the finger knitting first graders?

Isobel's teachers & I turned their 3 pound ball of finger knitting into a blanket for the school nurses office.
This is our school secretary (who really runs the school) accepting the blanket on behalf of all the future little sicklings who will snuggle under it.
Look how proud those kids are!

New floor, new "office"

Lookie, Lookie , our bamboo floor in the family room is all fixed and beautiful.
In the reorg that followed, I scored this amazing shelving unit to be my "office".
I used to have just a table.

Here are the shelves mostly filled. It will be fab to have all of my knitting reference books at my fingertips.

Some more sock yarn to celebrate !

I love sock yarn

Sock yarn is so innocent, it asks so little of you. It causes so little stress - easy to fit in your stash, not anxiety producing like sweater's worth of yarn, and it won't break the bank.
The best thing is the variety that's out there. Sheer gorgeousness - especially the handpainted yarn folks.

Some of my favs:
Spunky Eclectic
Sundara
Hello Yarn
Sweet Georgia (home of the Buffy colorways)

There's even a spot that sell only sock yarn.
Simply Sock Yarn.
They have: Interlacements, Fleece Artist Merino, Opal, Lorna's and a bunch more.
They have free US shipping over $50. Don't ask how I know.

Tell me , who am I missing..................

Shopping Rabbit Hole

Who knows what this incredibly dangerous sign is?

Tender Buttons, Chicago.
Mama got to shop alone and left many dollars lighter with an easy to hide wee bag:

From about 1 o'clock: glass cup shaped buttons (orange, lime & blue),
reproduction victorian black buttons, blue shell buttons (for a certain someone going though a very blue phase), glass flower buttons, linen buttons, and a bone moon. sigh.

I bought some sock yarn lately too.

Some Trekking, Opal, Interlacements, Mt. Colors (both Barefoot & Weavers Quarters),
Grignasco, Fleece Artist & Schaefer Anne - which is so tiiiiny that I ordered 4-0s & 5-0s to try & get something that resembles sock gauge.

Blissfully socking away...............
Yes, Janey you're due for socks, you can pick from the pile!

Chicago

This picture pretty much sums up the trip to Chicago. Have you ever seen a happier girl?
She picked Jess, the doll of the year. She also had a lot of firsts - rode in a taxi, rode a ferris wheel, rode in a boat, learned to write with a fountain pen, learned to braid.

The Boy and the Boy King. I'm glad we went to he show but it was long on atmosphere and short on artifacts.

I knit a sock swatch tube. 30 stitches and a bunch of different sock yarns later, I find that I'm on 000 for most socky yarns - Regia, Barefoot, Koigu. And i have to go hunting for a 0000 to do a swatch for Schaffer's gorgeous Ann. Yes, I kept track - see the little hang tag at the bottom of the pix? My record of needles & yarn.
Must go do stealth wrapping tomrrow is the dual girly birthday.
