You didn't!
Oh, yes I did. I ordered 3 fleeces from Treenway*. They are my first fleeces, so why not go all out? I gave nary a thought to how or where to process them. I just knew - I Must Have!
Merino
Polwarth
Gotland
Gotland sounds familar? You're either a spinner or a geek (or both) becasue Gotland (blended with alpaca) was used to make these:
Lord O' the Rings Elven Cloaks
Next Christmas, there may or may not be, some scarf-y Elven love for a a couple of LOTR fans I know. No, Carla, I am not going to weave them, my loom is quietly and majestically holding, spinning and dyeing supplies. It will be knitted Elven love.
*Treenway imports fleeces from New Zealand (see Amy, I remembered the A this time) each year. To the general joy and delight of spinner in N. America.

you're such a good little speller!
[you know, you can pay people to process your fleeces for you.]
Gotta second Amy. Scouring fleeces ain't my conception of a hot Saturday night.
You're just a hop and a skip away from a well known processor -- Zeilinger's, in Frankenmuth. All Michiganians should be forgiven for New Zealand with two e's.
Yep, gotta agree.. processing fleecies is nasty! Hope you got a drum carder! XD
What can I spin to knit me a mithrel?
I like dawnscustomcarding.com for processing. The woman is a fleece washing goddess. Oh, and Can I brag? I have a kilo of stanislaw locks in my wool room...
How cool, you couldn't get any closer to the sheep without spinning it right off their backs! Spinning is on my must learn to do list - right after we get Yarntopia up and running.
Can't wait to see your fleeces - I've got a Polwarth and a Gotland on the way!
Pah! I say pah! to all the doom and gloomers. Washing fleeces is FUN FUN FUN!
(Then again, I am a total spinning sicko. So maybe you should listen to them. But if you want help, you know who to call...)
Besides, I can teach you my fantastic method of deliberately leaving a little soap in and hanging the wet fleecy bits so they drip dry straight & can be spun sans carding!
