Ho, Ho, Ho!

They both got a million presents each, but they still fight over one - talking Yoda

.

Isobel & I designed this bolero. She picked the yarn - Lion Brand Landscapes & I knit. Who doesn't love 2.5 stitches to the inch?
It took a couple of evenings. And she wears it!

My favorite present, because it is about me and my obsessive nature. A fab spindle from Amy. Heart of Yew, 45 gms. Spins and spins, then stops. It doesn't back spin, it has spindle manners!

Also from Miss A, beyond butter Correidale in browns & a bunch in white to dye. I am spoiled.

In other news:
the entire family got a stomach virus, 2 days each. Mine happened to come on Carla & my designated play day- which we made up with some Threadbear love a few days later. Check out her blog to see her haul, mine is remarkable similar.

Amy & I are going to be at TNNA signing advance copies of Big Girl Knits for shop owners over the weekend of January 20th - if you're going to be there let us know!!!!!

House of Louse

Let's recount the past several days:
Honey goes out of town for 10 days.
Isobel gets lice at school. We comb for 3 hours.
My mother decides she 'can't do her money any more' dumps it on me.
The day after Honey returns his brother comes to visit for a few days - general family chaos and mother(in-law) issues
We're still combing Isobel a week later. No one else in the house gets the bugs. Even so I spend 3 hours combing my hair to be sure.
Isobel get the puking flu.
Henry gets the puking flu.
Grown ups are waiting to get puking.
I thought my Ipod died today. Did a successful reboot.

Counting the days until Holiday break so we can just hang out in our jammies all day, playing with new toys.
Saturday, Carla(she , who has finished her first semester of grad school without crying publicly) & I are going to Threadbear and The Spinning Loft.

Spun some yarn that looks like my hair:

Note to self: make friends with ratios.

Helen

Welcome St Helen, my latest spindle baby. Number 5 in the Spindle SlutTM, lemming race.

She's nestled in some NZ Possum/merino, camel/silk & cashmere/silk.
Luxury fibers are perfect for spindles, or so I think this week.
All from The Woolery - fab service.

The whole reason I went to the Woolery is they still have copies of High Whorling, sadly out of print, but still availible. I learned so much from this book. I'm self leading on my spindles now & doing the sexy thigh roll. I learned how to stand & sit to not damage my body. And PGR manages to explain the whole woolen/ worsted how to & why in a way that I can finally understand.
Really amazing basic information that will take you beyond your spindle.

Alden may be the end all, be all, but his book makes my head swim & you can't hold in the bathtub very well.
